Her Loves: Life...gotta love it!

What in the world is a woman my age doing gaming? That is a question I have asked myself many times. I have been into gaming for 20 plus years. Yes 20 plus years, it all started when we purchased one of those new-fangled personal computers. People declared it wouldn’t last, just a passing fad. Little did they know. I got some math and reading games for the girls. There was one little game in there called Crusher, great for their hand-eye coordination. These games were on a >>gasp<< 5 ½” floppy. The girls enjoyed the game.

Then came the 3 ½” floppy freeware game called Wolfenstein 3D. My first FPS and the beginning of a long road of PC gaming. There are some 60 plus games in my game library. I don’t discard PC games. Which one is my favorite? I really can’t say because they are all good ones, except for 1 or 2 maybe.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is one of my top games; the music is the best and well presented. I love them so much that I ripped the music and cut a CD.

So where did the xbox come in since I never played games on any type of console you might ask, SPLINTER CELL, need I say more. There was a huge bug in the PC version that I didn’t know existed till I hit that part of the game. Asking a colleague, xbox player, about the problem I ended up at the UBI$OFT web site and the forums. The answer was a patch that fixed the problem and I finished the game; loving every moment of game play and SAM. Soon after, I joined the forum and became involved with answering questions. I got to know kmcentyr, a mod and very nice person on the forum. We have since spent many hours talking and playing together, and he is the one that convinced me to get my first xbox. Thanks a lot Mac. Most of you know him as RoaringMad Mac. That first time I sent him a chat invite, we spent almost 2 hours talking. Thought I forgot that Mac, not a chance my son.

Having played both PC games and xbox I will say without a doubt that PC games out rank all others for graphics. I have heard all the arguments. However, seeing is believing. I am sure that the graphics will improve overtime but there is just so much that can be recorded on a disk. Game play is far more important to me than the eye candy of graphics; don’t get me wrong because graphics are important too but not the most important.

The best part on being online is the friends. There are those on my list that have been there from day one. Some have, for some reason been removed by me or them, that are back where they belong on my LIST. Some nights I find it very hard to know who – which – where I want to play. In the past few years that I have been online there was only one bad experience with a stalker but that was quickly resolved with a straight head on confrontation. Don’t want that situation ever again.

I could go on forever but it ends here – gotta go game! Party on people!!
